What We Do
Horses, in particular, are known for picking up on and reflecting the mental state of the person handling them. This mirroring can be extremely helpful for a victim to identify their own feelings – are they making the animal nervous or anxious as they radiate those emotions? As they learn to identify what they are feeling, it becomes easier to overcome the negative emotions that are holding them back. Learning to handle a 1000 lb. horse safely and direct their movements and actions can be a revelation. It can give a client a priceless shot of confidence, and remind them that the narrative they have been told about themselves is absolutely false.
What We Do for You
You do not have to ride a horse to participate in our programs. Most of our therapy involves working with the horses on the ground. We can tailor a program around a client’s capacity for physical activity and find alternative activities for many limitations. Clients struggling with anxiety in public places will appreciate our private gated and locked facility, at which access is strictly limited to our clients and those individuals necessary to conduct our programs and care for our animals. Would you like to come out at a time when you and a trainer can work together in a private session? We will be happy to make that happen. When you decide that you are ready to join in a group experience, you’ll discover the benefits of meeting other clients who are on similar journeys back to health, happiness and confidence. There will never be any pressure. This is a sanctuary for you, where you decide when you are ready for new experiences. No matter how pressure-filled the outside world is, you will be able to come here, have a coffee, hug a horse, and enjoy the peace and natural beauty of our serene four acres in the San Fernando Valley.
